Docs for projects and their communities
Bring your Markdown over, review contributions like pull requests, and publish a fast public site your community can search.
Keep the Markdown you have
Most projects already have docs in Markdown. Docsheaf imports them as they are.
Reviews that feel like pull requests
Maintainers already review code. Docs work the same way.
Change requests
Each proposed change has its own branch, diff, reviewers and discussion.

ApplyFrequently asked questions
Can I import my existing Markdown docs?
Yes. Paste Markdown or upload .md files. GitBook-style Liquid tags such as {% hint %}, {% tabs %} and {% stepper %} are converted into real blocks.
Can contributors propose changes?
Members with the editor role can open change requests. Maintainers review them on a diff, then approve and merge. With Git Sync, commits pushed to the connected GitHub repository arrive too — directly, or as a change request when the space requires review.
Is there an offer for open-source projects?
Yes. Public, non-commercial open-source projects can apply for paid-plan features at no cost. Contact us with a link to your project.
Will our docs stay portable?
Yes. Download any space as a ZIP of Markdown in GitBook’s layout, with its images; every page is also available as Markdown, and the REST API lets you export your content at any time.
